Happy New Year!!

We welcome back our chamber members and welcome our new officers for 2015 at our monthly Luncheon at Lina's Restaurant

We kick off our first session of 2015 Wednesday, January 14th at 11:45 pm at Lina's Restaurant. We will be installing our new officers and discussing plans for the new year.

Every month we host a Meet & Greet prior to the start of the meeting which runs about 30 minutes. So the meeting will officially start at 12:15 pm.

We also encourage all of you to bring along your promotional items. We hope everyone utilizes our chamber to help create new opporunties for their own business!

Gerald Vinci, president of Acu-Data Business Products, Inc. in Butler, NJ has served as president of the Tri-Boro Area Chamber for the last 13 years. As a show of appreciation and thanks for his years of service, newly elected President Jamie Certosimo presented him with a gift from the chamber members - A weekend at the Sagamore Hotel at Lake George, NY as a show of thanks. He will remain an integral part of the Chamber and the local community. Thank you for your service!

GENERAL MEETING
The general meeting of the Tri-Boro Area Chamber of Commerce was called to order by Jamie Certosimo at 12:20PM with a salute to the flag.  Four officers and three trustees were present; Jim Murasko was unable to attend.

APPLICATIONS FOR MEMBERSHIP
 There were three new applications for membership, Jimmy Geez Sports Bar in Oakridge, Double Down Entertainment in Butler and Stretch One LLC, Used Cars in Riverdale.  A motion to approve the applications was made by Ed Morba and seconded by Beverly Sullivant.  Chris Kanganis owner of  Stretch One LLC, Used Cars was present at the meeting and told the chamber members about his  business. 

APPROVAL OF MINUTES FROM THE November 12, 2014 MEETING
A motion to approve the minutes was made by Lucille Brule and seconded by Denise Brewster.

TREASURER’S REPORT
Checking Account balance is $2,868.46, New Checking account balance is $0 and the Pay Pal account balance is $0. A motion was made by Lucille Brule to accept the Treasurer’s report and seconded by Vivian Vinci.

BILLS TO BE PAID
There were no bills to be paid.

COMMUNICATIONS
Jamie Certosimo informed the chamber that Diana Boyd resigned effective immediately.  He also read an update letter from  Jalyn Lovejoy last year’s scholarship recipient from Riverdale.
Lucille Brule is collecting coupons to benefit the American Legion

OLD BUSINESS

  1. Jamie Certosimo reminded attendees to take advantage of the member to member discounts available.

NEW BUSINESS
                                                                                                                        
Jerry Vinci nominated Lisa Bendel as the new Vice President since Diana Boyd resigned.  It was seconded by Lucille Brule and the rest of the chamber members voted Lisa in.
The New Officers for 2015 and Trustees were Installed-  Jaime Cerosimo, President, Lisa Bendel, Vice President, Jessica Ballew, Treasurer and Helyne Czajkowski, Secretary  with a one year term ending 12/31/15. Both Lina Pagliarulo and Lucille Brule will remain as trustees with a two year term ending 12/31/16.  Denise Brewster and Jim Murasko are the other two trustees through 12/31/15 Jerry Vinci will also sit on the board as Past President for one year and will be a mentor to Jaime Certosimo and the entire group of officers.  
                                                                                                                        
CHAMBER MEMBER SPOTLIGHT
Ed Morba of Family Home Funding was this month’s spotlight speaker and educated the Chamber on Reverse Motgages.
50/50 RAFFLE
The raffle was won by Chris Kanganis.  Please not all proceeds from our 50/50 go towards our guests’ lunches.

At 12:57PM, Lucille Brule made a motion to adjourn the meeting.  It was seconded by Jessica Ballew.

A motion to approve the minutes was made by Lucille Brule and seconded by Lindsey Sass.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES FROM THE March 11, 2015 MEETING
A motion to approve the minutes was made by Lucille Brule and seconded by Beverley Sullivant.

TREASURER’S REPORT
Checking Account balance is $4,661.46 and the Pay Pal account balance is $1,161.60. A motion was made by Jerry Vinci to accept the Treasurer’s report and seconded by Lisa Bendel.

BILLS TO BE PAID
First quarter website fees $225.00, Little League Sign Sponsorship for $150.00.  A motion to pay the bills was made by Lucille Brule and seconded by Carianne Reeber.

COMMUNICATIONS
Jamie Certosimo informed the chamber about a few upcoming events.  Kinnelon PBA is having their 4th annual Tricky Tray Beefsteak at the Brownstowne on 4/11/15.  Ringwood Chamber of Commerce is having a multi chamber networking event on 4/30/15 from 6pm-8pm.  There will be a Tri-county golf outing on 5/7/15 if interested please see Jaime for more information.  Lucile Brule informed Chamber members of the Coldwell Banker Pet Adoption community project being held 4/18/15 from 11am-2pm at the Coldwell Banker on route 23 ion Butler.  Robert DeVito also informed the chamber members that Innovation Fitness will be opening up their third location on Ringwood Avenue in  Haskell.  Finally Elisha DiChristina of Glow Kids announced they will be adding new programs for kids with special needs and also she will be publishing a children’s book.

Jerry Vinci chair of the scholarship committee let the members know that the deadline for application will be 5/1/15 and the winners will be announced at our 5/13/15 meeting.  The scholarship committee consists of Beverly Sullivant, Donna Schwarz and Carianne Reeber.

NEW BUSINESS

Jaime Certosimo spoke to the chamber members about increasing the spotlight speaker to three every other month and having a guest speaker every other month.   Jerry Vinci informed the members that emblems to put in their businesses will be available by our next meeting.

At 12:49PM, Jack Pezzuti made a motion to adjourn the meeting.  It was seconded by Jaime Certosimo.

This month we had three guest speakers Jane McCarthy, borough clerk of Bloomingdale, Mary O’Keefe, borough clerk of Butler and Karen Luele, borough clerk of Kinnelon.  All three clerks talked about all the exciting events happening in their respective towns. 

CHAMBER MEMBER SPOTLIGHT

Jessica Ballew of Columbia was the spotlight speaker and educated the chamber members about Columbia Bank.  Columbia Bank was opened in the 1920’s and is a mutual held bank.  She also informed the members of the longevity of their employees and some of the programs available to non for profit companies.

GENERAL MEETING
The general meeting of the Tri-Boro Area Chamber of Commerce was called to order by Jamie Certosimo at 12:25PM with a salute to the flag.  All four officers and three trustees were present, Lisa Brule was unable to attend.

APPLICATIONS FOR MEMBERSHIP
 There was one new applications for membership, Gary Geresi of Assisting Hands.  A motion to approve was made by Jerry Vinci and seconded by Elisa DiChristina.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES FROM THE April 08, 2015 MEETING
A motion to approve the minutes was made by Jerry Vinci and seconded by Beverley Sullivant.

TREASURER’S REPORT
Checking Account balance is $5,463.96 and the Pay Pal account balance is $1,130.20. A motion was made by Mary Stevens to accept the Treasurer’s report and seconded by Lisa Bendel.      

BILLS TO BE PAID
ACU-DATA $250.00 for decals, Vinci Designs $28.00 to renew the website domain, Tri County Chamber of Commerce  $50.00 for a website link and $265.00 for the membership renewal.  A motion to pay the bills was made by Jaime Certosimo and seconded by Jim Murasko.

COMMUNICATIONS
Jamie Certosimo informed the chamber about a few upcoming events.  Pompton Lakes Chamber will be having a Pig Roast May 28th, from 6p-9p, $25. Per person. There will be a Tri-county golf outing on 7/30/15 if interested please see Jaime for more information.  Shelli Taggart of the Butler recreation Dept. informed Chamber members of Butler Day May 30th from 3p-10p.

NEW BUSINESS

Jerry Vinci chair of the scholarship committee talked at length about the process and steps involved with chosing the winners along with his committee members Beverly Sullivant, Donna Schwarz and Carianne Reeber and Robert DeVito (Kinnelon applicants in place of Beverly Sullivant).  The winners are as followed;Brooke Gurnari of Bloomingdale, Devika Bhandari of Butler, Colleen Griffin of Kinnelon and Elizabeth Boyle of Riverdale.          
Lisa Bendel handed out to each chamber member a membership decal for their business’s windows. Jaime spoke to the chamber members about business card holders that would fit several members business cards to have at hand if one needed to make a referral to someone for their businesses and if they were interested in purchasing one to see him.

At 12:55PM, Carianne Reeber made a motion to adjourn the meeting.  It was seconded by Beverly Sullivant.

This month the speaker called last minute to say he was unable to attend.

CHAMBER MEMBER SPOTLIGHT
Chris Miller of Traditional Okinawan Karate was our first spotlight speaker and educated the chamber members about his business and did a demonstration on self defense. Lisa Bendel of Park Lane Jewelry was our second spotlight speaker and educated the chamber members of her business and opportunities available.  She also raffled beautiful items to four lucky winners.  The next two spotlight speakers will be Elisa DiChristina of Glowhouse Kids and Jack Pezzuti of Cartridge World.

As a show of thanks for 13 years of service, Former Chamber President Jerry Vinci and wife Vivian were awarded a weekend getaway in Lake George at the Sagamore Hotel.

A note from Vivian and Jerry:

We can't thank you enough for the trip to the Sagamore at Lake George.

The hotel was absolutely beautiful, the food and the atmosphere were wonderful. It was such a treat to be able to relax and enjoy the beauty of the area. We even visited the Bolton Chamber of Commerce which is the local chamber for the area surrounding and including the Sagamore.

GENERAL MEETING
The general meeting of the Tri-Boro Area Chamber of Commerce was called to order by Jamie Certosimo at 12:31PM with a salute to the flag.  Three officers and three trustees were present, Jessica Ballew and Jim Murasko were unable to attend.

APPLICATIONS FOR MEMBERSHIP
 There were no new applications for membership.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES FROM THE May 13, 2015 MEETING
A motion to approve the minutes was made by Lisa Bendel and seconded by Elisa DiChristina.

TREASURER’S REPORT
Checking Account balance is $3,775.46 and the Pay Pal account balance is $1,101.70. A motion was made by Lucille Brule to accept the Treasurer’s report and seconded by Beverly Sullivant.           

BILLS TO BE PAID
ACU-DATA $160.00 for printing of applications and Vinci Designs for  $225.00 for our quarterly website fees.  A motion to pay the bills was made by Mary Stevens and seconded by Lindsey Sass.

COMMITTEE REPORTS
Lisa Bendel reported that we currently have 30 members on our Facebook page.  A link will; be mailed out to all our members in efforts to increase our Facebook members.

COMMUNICATIONS
Beverley Sullivant introduced Jen and Chelsea Valentine to our chamber members to talk about Team HopeFull and a Family Fitness Fundraiser coming up August 22, 2015.

Jaime Certosimo informed the chamber members of a Netwrok lunch at Bahama Breeze n Wayne through the Tri-County Chamber on June 16th, 12pm.

All four officers and three trustees were present, Denise Brewster was unable to attend.  We also had two new prospective members, Mike Farara of Health Republic and Chris Camizzi of Mail –A- Map which whom both told the chamber members a little about their businesses.

 There was one new application for membership from Town New Today.  Beverley Sullivant made a motion to accept and Lucille Brule seconded it.  Chris Oldfield educated the chamber members on what his company was all about.

CHAMBER MEMBER SPOTLIGHT
Our first spotlight speaker was Ken Ginefra of GCS Consultants and Computer Repair in Kinnelon.  Ken talked about how he’s been in the business for over thirty years. He started off consulting with accounting firms and now works with small businesses providing many services like email support, server upgrades, cloud service and much more.  He also has a repair center as well.  He will provide free onsite analysis and does provide a discount to chamber members. The next spotlight speakers were Heyne Czajkowski and Greg Santos of The Health Center at Bloomingdale, in Bloomingdale.  The Health Center is a 120 bed skilled nursing facility providing short and long term care in a secure caring environment.  They provide physical, occupational and speech therapy 7 days per week in efforts to send our rehab patients home quickly and safely after their stay.  The center offers free laundry service, wifi and flat screen televisions with cable.  The chamber members were all invited to come and tour the center at any time.

Author, Public speaker and professional development consultant Jim Charette spoke to the Chamber on the "Power of questions to promote business opportunities." His presentation focused on how the power of question can increase business. Jim spoke about missing leads daily and the avenues we need to take to turn leads into sales. Questions were presented to the chamber such as are you happy with your level of business? Are your business goals set high enough? These and many other business development topics were discussed.

Annual 200 Club Raffle Update

The raffle ticket books for the December 9th 200 Club Raffle are printed and ready for distribution.

Each ticket is $10.00 and there are only 200 tickets. This is our main fundraiser for the scholarships we provide each June for graduating high school seniors. We ask that each member take at least one book of five tickets.

Raffle Committee
Scholarship raffle Chairman Jerry Vinci of ACU-DATA BUSINESS PRODUCTS updated the Chamber on the delay of the raffle printing due to a new process to the application. Jerry will call and inform when tickets are available for distribution. Please participate in this most important function of our Chamber.

Nominating Committee

Officer elections Chairperson Robert Devito of INNOVATION FITNESS updated the chamber on the November Chamber meeting elections. James Certosimo of AAMCO TRANSMISSIONS will run for re-election as President to the Chamber. Lisa Bendel of PARK LANE JEWELRY will seek reelection as Vice President to the Chamber. Jessica Ballew of COLUMBIA BANK will also seek re-election . Rounding out the officers will be Helyne Czatkowski of THE HEALTH CTR @ BLOOMINGDALE who will also will seek re-election as Secretary to the Chamber.

This year there are two trustees up for re-election. Jim Murasko of ALLSTATE INSURANCE CO. will not seek re-election. Denise Brewster of BLOOMINGDALE CHIROPRACTIC will seek re-election as Trustee to the Chamber. Robert Devito of INNOVATION FITNESS will seek election as Trustee to the Chamber.

COMMUNICATIONS
Lindsey Sass of NJ HEALING CENTER read a letter from 2014 scholarship recipient Elizabeth Boyle from Riverdale High School updating us on her promising future.

Donna Schwarz of TREASURE HUNT CONSIGNMENT SHOP read a letter from scholarship recipient Devika Bhandari who attended Butler High School on her progress and how much our contribution has made her goals possible.

Jerry Vinci of ACU-DATA BUSINESS PRODUCTS gave us an update on Lake George including one of the highlight of his trip in that of a visit to the Lake George Chamber of Commerce 

NEW BUSINESS
Jamie Certosimo announced a large multi-chamber networking event on November 19 th  at Chamber member Jack Chen's Route # 23 Buffet at 7:00 PM. Dinner followed by member speed dating type format at 8:00. Cost for the event is $20.00 per person.

Lisa Bendel who maintains the chamber Facebook page announced that we will be accepting advertisements from members for products, services and special events.

GUEST SPEAKER

GENERAL MEETING
The meeting was called to order at 12:20 p.m. by Jamie Certosimo with a salute to the flag.
Each member was given one minute to tell us about their business including location and member to member discounts

Honoring Veteran’s Day
 At this time we had Dave Warfied speak about his time in the Navy.  We also asked the chamber members if there were any other veterans in the room and both Chris Oldfield of Town News Today and Alan Lewis of Wells Fargo Advisors also spoke about their time in service.  The chamber thanked them all for their service.

APPLICATIONS FOR MEMBERSHIP
There were no new applications for memberships.  We did have three prospective members in attendance, Alan Lewis of Wells Fargo Advisors, Zitia Stratis of Elements Massage, Riverdale and Gene Bohensky of The Alternative Board.  All of which whom gave a brief description of what they do to the chamber members.

OLD BUSINESS
Jaime Certosimo AAMCO TRANSMISSONS president of the chamber reviewed the bylaws with the Chamber members to clarify what one must accomplish in order to run for a position on the board or trustee.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

Nominating Committee
Officer elections Chairperson Robert Devito of INNOVATION FITNESS updated the chamber on the November Chamber meeting elections. All candidates ran unopposed, James Certosimo of AAMCO TRANSMISSIONS as President to the Chamber. Lisa Bendel of PARK LANE JEWELRY as Vice President to the Chamber. Jessica Ballew of COLUMBIA BANK as treasurer to the Chamber, Helyne Czatkowski of THE HEALTH CENTER AT BLOOMINGDALE as Secretary to the Chamber and both  Denise Brewster of BLOOMINGDALE CHIROPRACTIC and Jim Murasko of ALLSTATE INSURANCE CO. as Trustees to the Chamber.  A vote was taken there were no objections.  A motion to approve was made by Beverly Sullivant REFORMED CHURCH OF KINNELON 2nd by Lucille Brule’ COLDWELL BANKER.

Raffle Committee
Scholarship raffle Chairman Jerry Vinci of ACU-DATA BUSINESS PRODUCTS informed the chamber that raffle tickets are now available through him.   An email blast to all members was made informing them of the importance of the fundraiser.  Tickets must be back and sold by the end of November so we have everything in order before the drawing. Please participate in this most important function of our Chamber.

NEW BUSINESS
Jamie Certosimo announced a large multi-chamber networking event sponsored by our chamber on November 19 th  at Chamber member Jack Chen's Route # 23 Buffet at 7:00 PM. Dinner followed by member speed dating type format at 8:00. You may reserve your spot right on our website.  Cost for the event is $20.00 per person. He also informed the chamber of our new suggestions box for members to but their ideas of what they want to see as far as guest speakers or different ideas they might have for our chamber.  The guest speakers for 2016 will take place in the following months; January, March, May, September and November.  The Chamber will also start having Tuesday evening mixers.  This first one will be in January at Jimmy’s in West Milford look out for the date in time in our next month’s minutes. Linda Sokerka COLDWELL BANKER informed the chamber of networking breakfast hosted by the North Jersey Networking Group on December 2nd at the Best Western, Pompton Plains at 8am.  There is a $10 per person fee.

SPOTLIGHTSPEAKERS
Jack Pezzuti of CARTRIDGE WORLD informed the members of the Cartridge World Printing & Copying Savings Plan.  It’s a no cost lease,  You select a printer for which you pay nothing that meets your business needs it also come with free service to that printer.  To start, buy two sets of Cartridge World cartridges.  At the end of your plan you decide to opt-in for a new printer or choose to continue using your current printer.  And, you can opt out of the plan at any time (no hidden fees).

 Sal  Pagliarulo of LINA'S RESTAURANT told us that his restaurant has been in business has been in opened for 32 years and over those years has raised over 200,000.00 for charity.  Every Wednesday and Fridays they offer to their customer 50% off their entire bill.  Friday nights the restaurant offers live music for their customers to enjoy.  They also offer a Chamber discount of 50% off gift certificates.

Chris Oldfield of TOWN NEWS TODAY.COM is a new fast growing internet company that offers local news to their viewers.  To advertise it is $250.00 monthly and there is a 10% discount for Chamber members.

50/50 raffle was $45.00 won by Jaime Certosimo AAMCO TRANSMISSONS and Jaime donated his winnings to the Chamber.

Motion to adjourn was made by  Denise Brewster of BLOOMINGDALE CHIROPRACTIC, Mary Stevens of MRS BOOKJEEPING SVC. 2nd the motion.
